ABOUT THE CENTRE
The Centre for Management of Technology and Entrepreneurship (CMTE), established in 1991 at the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering, is focused on bringing leading edge problem solving and research innovation to our industry partners.
Our goal is to provide our Sponsors with quality, value added research based practical work, related to three overlapping research areas, namely financial modeling, data science and machine learning. These research areas allow us to provide innovative solutions to many industry related applications, including financial modeling, forecasting, customer analytics, market risk, operational risk, portfolio optimization, productivity enhancement logistics and aspects of cyber security. Furthermore, we recognize that the recruitment of high quality personnel by our Sponsors is a top priority and make recruitment of both co-op and graduating students an important focus of our program. Our Sponsors will also have the option to hire graduate level students for 4-month internships through government grants. Naturally, the best undergraduate and graduate students will be identified for fulltime employment upon their graduation.

Our History
The Centre for Management of Technology and Entrepreneurship was founded by Dr. Joseph Paradi in 1991 with the generous donations received from Bell, Toronto Dominion Bank and the Royal Bank of Canada. The Centre’s focus then, as it is today, was to provide Canadian industries with leading applied research related to finance, business and management.
Through his work at the Centre, Professor Paradi developed world-leading expertise in bank branch productivity using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). Professor Paradi has hundreds of publications and has recently published a book on DEA. With Emeritus designation, he continues to teach entrepreneurship at the university and is often asked to give plenary talks around the world.
Dr. Yuri Lawryshyn joined the Centre in 2007, after spending over 10 years in industry, research, management and marketing. Professor Lawryshyn brings both managerial and marketing expertise as well as technical expertise related to numerical and financial modelling. Professor Lawryshyn is now the Director of the Centre and holds the Joseph C. Paradi Chair in Information Engineering.
